AFRICA 2006
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.    Matthew 28:19-20
The Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to GO on a short term mission trip to Africa this year.
Leaving on June 3rd, I will be going with a team from Gospelink, and we will be serving in the country of Zambia for 2 weeks.

I am really excited about this trip.  This will be only my second international trip.  Last year, I was part of the ALERT team that served in Haiti for three weeks.  But this is on a whole different continent altogether!
Yet the location that God sends us to does not matter:

"Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be like  about me.
Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee."

                                       2006 Africa Mission Trips
Each trip to Zambia will involve outreach, ministry, construction, and humanitarian projects.
Many of the ministry opportunities listed above will be offered. (There will be outreach in the public schools, in hospitals, in market areas, and in churches.  Outreach will be conducted in the urban center of Dar Es Salaam, the city of Arusha, and in a variety of rural areas throughout the nation.  Vacation Bible Schools will be conducted and Jesus Film presentations will be made.  Opportunities will abound for drama, worship, etc.  Team members will visit Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africas's tallest mountain)
  In addition, teams will participate
in the Phase two construction at the
International Bible College in
Zambia.  (No building experience
is required and there will be plenty
to do regardless of your skill level.)
  Team members will visit Victoria
Falls, one of the Seven Wonders of
the World.
All teams will be hosted by groups
of Gospelink national preachers
living in that region.

                               BIBLES NEEDED
The mission teams going to Zambia this summer will be involved in outreach venues in public scholls, hospitals, orphanages, open air meetings, Jesus Film presentations, etc.
Bibles are needed for hospital patients, new converts, and to leave in the public school classrooms.  If you would like to help with this need, send your gift to

"How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!"
                                                                       Romans 10:14-15

Late in 2005, last year, I felt God was leading me to more mission work this year.  I had already gone down to Haiti for several weeks, and saw first hand the need the world has for help.  And so I was open for opportunities.  Shortly after that, I was reading in a small newsletter I get in the mail, called 'Gospelink', 'NEEDED, missionaries to go with us to Africa'.  It really stood out, and so I investigated it, and soon called in and signed up.
Gospelink is a ministry designed to find families in America who are willing to 'adopt' and support a native pastor and his family in Africa.  In turn the pastor as to at least send quarterly letters to the family.
  Gospelink also has material
and sends out a newsletter
every month.  They get several
groups of missionaries together
to go over there every year as
well.
Right now it is exciting to see
how their current project is
coming along.  They are building
a Bible college, there in the middle
of Africa!  All the funds come from
donations!

Leaving on June 3rd, I should get
back a couple weeks later, June 22.
This is not part of ALERT!  However,
the twist to that is, I first heard about
Gospelink, and I signed up for their
newsletter after a representitive from Gospelink came and spoke at ALERT while I was in training at ALERT!
